About Shane Clapper
Is the war in Iraq worth fighting? Are we really loosing in Iraq despite the fact that our soldiers in Iraq rarely lose a battle to the insurgents? It depends who you ask. If you ask the media outside Iraq, most will tell you that we are loosing the war. Yet one gets an entirely different story by talking with the military men and women who have been to Iraq and seen the war first hand.
To quote Major Stan Coerr, “Watching politicians declaim and hearing television experts expound on why we went to war and on their opinion of those running the White House and Defense Department, I have one question. When is someone going to ask the guys who were there?”
That is what Clapper has set out to due through his book, Shooting Straight, How the American Led Coalition is Winning the War in Iraq. Clapper has spoken to those who have been there and done that. What he has found is that America is winning in Iraq (yes, you read that correctly!), despite the media saying otherwise.
Clapper has spoken to the members of America’s Armed Forces to get to the bottom of the good that is going on in Iraq. Not only that, but he has also documented thousands of facts and personal stories of successes on the ground. He also dives head first in answering the question why the reasons for war still stand, and looks to show how Iraq ties into, and is helping win, the global war on terror.
