Iraqi Army, U.S. Forces Destroy Large Cache in Hor al-Bosh

TAJI – Iraqi Army and Multi-National Division—Baghdad Soldiers uncovered a large weapons cache June 5 during a cordon and knock mission southwest of Taji.

Members of the 2nd Battalion, 37th Iraqi Army Brigade and U.S. Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment, 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, seized a cache consisting of 281 82mm mortar rounds and 350 50mm mortar rounds in the vicinity of Hor al-Bosh, Iraq.

“Uncovering this cache will have a significant impact on enemy operations,” said Capt. Nicholas Buchheit, commander, Company C, 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment.  “This will increase the safety for soldiers and citizens in the area.”

A Coalition forces explosive ordinance disposal team safely destroyed the munitions in place.  There were no injuries or damage.
